This forum will be held on Earth Day, April 22, from 6-8 P.M., at the Eureka High Theater and Lecture Hall—not to be confused with the Auditorium in the main building. The Theater and Lecture Hall is located on the Eureka High School Campus in the Business and Technology Building. Parking is available in the lot at J and Humboldt streets.

People who have kindly committed to present are: Brian Morrissey from Security National; Marcus Brown from the Timber Heritage Society; County Supervisor John Woolley representing the North Coast Railroad Authority; Commissioner Patrick Higgins from the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation, and Conservation District; and Spencer Clifton from the Humboldt County Association of Governments. Green Wheels and the Trails Trust of Humboldt Bay have also been invited to participate.

The Rhododendron Parade has been rescued and there is hope that the floats will wind up at Redwood Acres on April 26, coincidentally the first day of the Artists, Artisans & Crafters Spring Fever Festival being held there. We thought it would be a lovely place for a voter registration and information table just three weeks before the close of registration. We've signed up to be there from 10-5 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday, April 27.

Fifty Years ago President Eisenhower proclaimed the first Law Day: a “day of national dedication to the principle of government under law.”
On May 1 celebrate the 50th anniversary of Law Day with your League when we host an opportunity for the public to meet its Superior Court Judges. The Superior Court is a trial court in which a judge or jury decides a case by looking at evidence and listening to facts and then applying the law. Citizens, as jurors, are vital to the process.

Get out in the redwoods on a Sunday afternoon, help earn some money for the League, and give much appreciated aid to this year’s runners. We need about ten people to pour water, cut up oranges, and make sure we leave the Avenue beautiful. We set up our table about 10 A.M. and usually have a tailgate lunch about 1 P.M., clean up the site and then we're free to enjoy the rest of the day.
League volunteers earn $150 to $200 for the League and receive their own Avenue tee shirt (no sweatshirts this year, sorry!). Please sign up now if you can help, and I will confirm with you closer to the date. Call me at 442-7495. Leave your name, contact number and tee shirt size, as your shirt must be pre-ordered to be at the aid station on May 4. I'm looking forward to a great day. Remember, NO experience necessary!
